Jonathan's first project behind the camera as executive producer, Broken Roads tells the story of a young man named Aldo Russo. A city boy from Trenton, New Jersey with a good head on his shoulders. Seventeen-years-old with everything needed in life; till a tragic car accident shatters it, leaving his mother dead and him in critical condition both physically and emotionally. Haunted by his mother's memory, he becomes lost from the world.
Upon leaving the hospital, he's forced to move to the small town of Moorpark, Colorado to live with his only known relative, his grandmother, Wallace Russo, whom he has never met.
After living together they discover that they're unable to find peace with their own demons until they've found peace with each other. Beginning to bond, they realize the beauty of life and what life is truly about; while getting a second chance to right mistakes made and forgive the past. However, life is unexpected and the two are forced to take from each other what they've learned in order to become the people they were meant to be.
The effect is a profoundly touching portrayal of life itself, the hard times, the good times, and the fundamental changes that make us who we are. Broken Roads is a contrasted portrait of life; dealing with loss. A character driven journey of rediscovery and the hills climbed which forever change us; contrasted by darkness and light that is not often found in such stories.
