| Q: | (Quickly setting up the camera and microphone, while asking Jonathan how it is to see his newest movie, When Zachary Beaver Came To Town, with the Lansing audience at its Michigan premiere). |
| A: | I'm really excited because I've seen a few crowds see it - every crowd is different, so I want to see everyone's reaction to the showing. |
| Q: | So you get the pleasure of seeing how the crowd reacts... |
| A: | (agrees) I like people liking the work that I do. |
| Q: | (Jonathan's microphone is given final adjustments to be in place for the polished interview footage). |
| A: | (commenting on the microphone adjustment) That's what I do... when I'm making little movies... |
| Q: | You make your own movies? |
| A: | Yeah, I do. I make little ones and edit them, make DVD's of them. |
| Q: | Do you make your family and friends partake? |
| A: | A little bit. Mostly my sister and my dogs. My dogs are most of the stars in my movies. And my friends. |
| Q: | So, what about the theory that the worst time to put people in movies is using kids with animals. How do you feel about that? |
| A: | Well I just love my dogs and I just love putting them in movies, and I don't think they mind, so... |
| Q: | So they're having fun too? |
| A: | Yeah. |
| Q: | I have one serious question, though. I read somewhere that you were instrumental in making this movie happen. What was it that made it interesting enough for you to try to make this movie happen? |
| A: | Well, because I read the book and I just - Well, you know they don't make movies like this anymore. There was, you know, Stand By Me and that's kind of like this and those films are not made anymore... most films are dominated by special effects and I felt I wanted to do something different that they haven't done for quite a while. |
| Q: | So how does it feel to be instrumental in making a change in the movie industry? |
| A: | Uh, I - I just loved doing this movie... It felt good! |
| Q: | Excellent! Thank you! |
| A: | Thank you! |
