He was cuter than his mousy mate in Stuart Little, and now he's making everyone go "Aaah-isn't-he-even-cuter?" in The Little Vampire. L&K talks jellyfish and sleeping dogs with pint-sized superstar Jonathan Lipnicki!
| Q: | Now you're a big, little star, do you insist on your own trailer, gym and McDonald's restaurant? |
| A: | Well my dog, Edgar, loved the catering and he comes everywhere with me, so he's got to be happy. Edgar loved everything there. He'd go, "Oh catering, oh catering, yum!" He's not too fussy - if they gave him a bone he'd munch it up and then he'd want more! One time during filming, I was eating lunch and I got called to do a scene, when I returned he'd finished off my lunch - the whole lot. When me, my mom, my dad and sister got back to my trailer he'd munched it all up, he was there licking his lips. |
| Q: | What type of dog is Edgar? |
| A: | A Rhodesian Ridgeback mixed with pit bull, and he's huge - just like a pony. He's about four inches taller than me! I don't walk him, he basically walks me! |
| Q: | Does Edgar ever snooze on your bed? |
| A: | Yeah, he's not the kind of dog who lies on the bottom of the bed, he kind of lies in the middle or uses me as his pillow. Or he lays on me! He's a pretty heavy dog. I can't get up in the morning if he's still there. I have to go, "Edgar, wake up!" |
| Q: | For your movie The Little Vampire you met all kinds of ghostly ghouls. Were you scared? |
| A: | Well the cows were animated so I didn't really get to see them flying. And the Vampires had lots of make-up on but they were all really nice actors. I met some real cows as well and they were really funny and made lots of grunty noises. They were really smelly too. I'm not scared of anything at all, not even the dark! |
| Q: | What if a big fierce tiger padded into this room, would you be frightened then? |
| A: | No, I'd think it was cute! I went on a big roller coaster a little while ago and it was really steep and amazingly fast, but I enjoyed it. So I guess I'm not too scared of heights either. |
| Q: | You've worked with some really famous people, like Tom Cruise... |
| A: | Yeah, he's really, really nice. And do I get bored people asking me what Tom's like? Not at all but before you ask, no, he's not that short, he's about the same height as my dad, about 5ft 10in. It's just that his wife [Nicole Kidman] is really, really tall. |
| Q: | Have you still got any of your old toys you always play with? |
| A: | Well, I've a toy Scooby-Doo and my dog Edgar thinks he's a pal and he goes around with it all day. Other than that, not really, because when I'm away, my sister uses my room as a dump for her stuff, and I can't find any of my things! |
| Q: | If you were an animal what would you be? |
| A: | I would have to be either a bat or a dog. If I was a bat I could fly around which would be cool and I'd know where everything was because of that amazing echo location stuff bats can do. That would be really cool. But I'm not sure about hanging upside down! |
| Q: | What weird foods have you eaten? |
| A: | I like whale. I ate it in Japan. It was blubbery and hard to chew, so I just took little pieces and it was nice. Oh, and I also ate jellyfish in Japan. I don't think they cook it and it was really sloppy, but it did taste nice. It was full of flavor. You don't get stung by it but my sister wouldn't touch it at all. I ate a lot of crazy food in Japan! I also like octopus and haggis. |
| Q: | Is it difficult misbehaving when you're famous? |
| A: | Yeah! But one time I did make a sign saying 'Kick Me' and stuck it on my teachers back when he wasn't looking... and then I kicked him! |
| Q: | In Stuart Little your mousy mate was added after the film was shot, was The Little Vampire easier? |
| A: | Well, it was harder than Vampire because I had to look at nothing the whole film when I was supposed to be looking at Stuart. They'd put a little spot of tape where he should be, or sometimes I'd have a little doll to talk at which was easier. |
| Q: | And finally, do you get recognized a lot? |
| A: | Yeah I do. I'm always getting asked to sign stuff. I don't mind at all, because I don't want to be rude to people who enjoy my films! |
