Somehow, a toothy lisp on an action star doesn't fit the mold. But for little Jonathan Lipnicki, it's his ticket to fame. His unique tongue twisting came in handy for roles in Jerry Maguire ("Did you know the human head weighs 8 pounds?") and Stuart Little.

That lovable lisp still lingers in his new Halloween film, The Little Vampire. Jonathan plays a boy who helps a young vampire escape a life of eternal darkness. He cheerfully claims it as his first "action hero role". Calling to promote the film, he reluctantly - remember, he's a kid - chatted about his movie star career. Sounding as cute and fidgety as ever, he survived a round of questions pertaining to a "scary" life as an action hero - and as a 10-year-old.

Q: Vampires can be really frightening. Did making The Little Vampire bring you any nightmares?
A: No. It's not that scary. The only thing that's really scary is if a person in my family were to die. That's scary. That's really, really scary.
Q: So, do you like to watch scary movies around Halloween time?
A: Sometimes I do. I think The Sixth Sense is the scariest one I've seen.
Q: What kind of fun did you have making The Little Vampire?
A: My favorite scenes were the flying scenes. I'm on a harness connected to a cord connected to the ceiling, and then I flew. I wasn't scared.
Q: Is it hard being a young actor - do you ever have kids that just want to be your friend because ...
A: Yeah, I do!
Q: ... of your movies?
A: I do! I do! It happens a lot.
Q: How do you handle that?
A: Well, I tell them no. I don't like that. I tell them I can't be their friend if they're just going to like me because I'm an actor.
Q: Do they get mad at you?
A: No, they're not that mad.
Q: How do you like acting - do you work long days?
A: I like it a lot. I like everything about it. All my days are the same; there's a law that says I can't work long days.
Q: That's good. How long do you work?
A: Nine and a half hours.
Q: Gosh, that's a long day!
A: (Silence.)
Q: Now that you've been in a few movies, what are your favorite ...
A: Action!
Q: ... types to make?
A: I like to do a lot of action movies! Just like Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis.
Q: That sounds exciting. What projects do you have coming up?
A: Stuart Little 2
Q: Does that have a lot of action in it?
A: I'm not sure.
Q: When you're not working, what do you do for fun?
A: Skateboarding and a lot of sports.
Q: You're not afraid of wiping out and not being able to act?
A: Oh, no, no, no. I'll always be able to act, no matter what.
