Tom Cruise honored with Entertainment Icon Award
Posted June 14, 2012
On Tuesday night Tom Cruise was honored with the fourth Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award. His Rock of Ages co-star Alec Baldwin hosted the event at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan, where speakers included Cuba Gooding Jr. and Kevin Pollak.
Jonathan was in attendance, and spoke on the red carpet about the career advice Cruise passed onto him just last month: "Recently I saw him. Making the transition as a child actor is often very difficult, and I was ready for the challenge and I've been working hard, but it's always good to get advice from someone who has had years and years of experience like him … he really had some great stuff to tell me."
Jonathan also looked back on working with Cruise on Jerry Maguire, and credited the movie as being the deciding point in his career as an actor. "I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life," said Lipnicki, "[Cruise] is a great guy to work with and he just made the experience so amazing."
Photos from the event are now on Jonathan's Facebook page.
