Jonathan Lipnicki, the child star who stole the show in the movie Jerry Maguire, will help bring attention to pediatric chiropractics.

Lipnicki, now 14, has appeared in 14 movies, including another blockbuster, Stuart Little. He is now inspiring children to live the chiropractic wellness lifestyle as the national celebrity spokesperson for Kids' Day America, according to Stuart Warner, DC, founder of the program.

"Kids are more inactive, and diabetes is on the rise," Lipnicki told Chiropractic Economics. "I want to be part of the solution by telling kids. I love this wellness lifestyle."

The child star said his uncle, a chiropractor, gave him his first adjustment when he was just months old. He has had adjustments all of his life. "It's a good way to live," he said. "You perform at your best, whether it's academically or physically."

Lipnicki plans to get the message to kids by doing public service announcements and speaking to the press. And the idea of being spokesperson was his and his uncle's. "My uncle told me about this and I said I would love to do this. We contacted Dr. Stu [Warner]," he said.

The Kids' Day America is an annual event in which chiropractors throughout the country are encouraged to partner with local sponsors to provide health screening and fingerprinting to children. In 2005, it will be May 14. Last year more than 1,500 DCs signed up for the event.

According to Warner, the event creates awareness for chiropractic throughout the community and the country and often results in acquiring new patients.
